At Dany’s Autobody, we want you to be totally comfortable when bringing your car into us. We offer this section for those of you who may have some questions ahead of time.
Below are some Frequently Asked Questions:
INSURANCE
Q) Do I have the right to take my car to the shop of my choice?
A) Yes. You may select the repair facility of your choice.
Q) Can I take my car to the repair shop of my choice?
A) Yes. Your insurance company cannot require you to have your vehicle repaired at a specific repair shop. Your policy will cover the reasonable cost of repairing your vehicle to its pre-accident condition no matter where you have repairs made.
Dany’s Autobody works with all insurance companies to return your vehicle to pre-accident condition.
Q) Should my insurance company be notified before repairs?
A) Yes, always. Your insurance policy generally states that, if requested, you must file a sworn proof of loss, exhibit the damaged property, and submit to examination under oath.
Q) Do you take insurance?
A) We welcome insurance claims and we are happy to help you with the paperwork.
Q) What should I do if I notice additional damage caused by the accident after my car has been repaired?
A) Notify your auto body shop as soon as you can and good luck!
This will never happen at Dany’s Autobody. Remember, we work for you, NOT your insurance company. We diligently examine and measure every aspect of your vehicle related to the accident and document it, get insurance approval or your approval, and repair it.
Q) What is a direct repair shop?
A) A direct repair shop is an auto body shop which an insurance company has a pre-determined relationship. Provided the vehicle owner has no preference on where the vehicle is repaired, the insurance company may direct its client to a direct repair shop.
Q) What should I do if I have been involved in an accident?
A) State law and the terms of your insurance contract describe the duties you need to perform after you have been in an accident.
- Make sure that everyone is all right, and call for medical help if necessary.
- Most states require the police to be notified for most accidents.
- Exchange the following information with the other driver(s) involved: full name, address, telephone number(s), and the name of the insurance company.
If you are filing an insurance claim regarding the accident:
- As soon as possible, notify your insurance agent/company of the accident.
- Follow the conditions in your insurance contract that must be satisfied in order to receive compensation form your insurer. Cooperate with your insurance company and perform any required actions during the claims settlement process to ensure that you receive compensation.
Q) Should I pay for an accident repair myself or let my insurance company handle it?
A) Due to rising insurance costs, more and more people are paying for minor accident repairs ‘out of pocket’ and we’re happy to discuss cost-saving options. We also have good relationships with all insurance companies, with whom we work on behalf of our mutual customers.
Q) How do I know that my insurance company will treat me fairly?
A) The insurance company is required to return your vehicle to the condition it was in, before it was damaged. Either the company can pay all costs to satisfactorily repair you vehicle, including all obvious and hidden damage, or they may offer cash settlement to pay for the satisfactory repair of you vehicle.
Dany’s Autobody repair vehicles in a quality and skillful manner based on accepted standards set by industry trade organization such as I-CAR and ASE.
ESTIMATES
Q) Do I need to contact more than one shop for an estimate?
A) No. Generally, one estimate from the shop of your choice is required, unless your insurance policy specifies otherwise.
Q) Am I responsible for obtaining more than one estimate?
A) If you have an initial insurance estimate, Dany’s Autobody will begin repairs on your vehicle and, if necessary, work directly with the insurance company on your behalf for any supplemental repair costs due to hidden damage.
Q) How much do you charge for an estimate?
A) We offer free written estimates with a smile! We value you as a customer. You are not imposing on us. You’re the reason we’re in business. Whether you choose to do repairs with us or not we’ll always treat you with dignity, respect and honesty.
